Maine's Sexual Harassment Law
Maine's Human Rights Act requires that Maine employers with 15 or more employees provide sexual harassment prevention training to all supervisory employees within one year of assuming a supervisory position.
The Human Rights Commission has informally stated that the criteria may include whether an employee had control over another employee's pay, breaks, continued employment, or other terms and conditions of employment.
The statute requires that all employees be trained as well.
Requirements:
- All personnel who are supervisory and managerial employees.
- All employees.
- Persons hired or promoted into supervisory positions must receive training within one year of their hire or promotion.
- Employers must document the training.
